Dio ricorda al Suo popolo che Egli solo è la loro consolazione e sicurezza. Eppure Israele permise alla potenza di Babilonia di suscitare paura nei loro cuori, dimenticando che la forza umana è fugace. Spesso facciamo lo stesso. Temiamo le persone e le circostanze più di quanto confidiamo nel Dio che possiede l'eternità. La vera consolazione e sicurezza arrivano quando il nostro timore è fissato su Dio, non sugli uomini.

[13] Hai dimenticato il Signore che ti ha fatto, che ha disteso i cieli e fondato la terra? Tu tremi continuamente, tutto il giorno, davanti al furore dell’oppressore, quando si prepara a distruggere. Ma dov’è il furore dell’oppressore?
